Football fans you may have come across a comical new spot from Verizon featuring Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings. This spot titled “Quick Dip” :30 is a departure from Verizon’s more futuristic spots. Catered to football fans, it really brings home the quirky mind of an obsessed sports fan, where beauty is not blinded by the game. And who else better then to help enhance the audible nuisances? Well Music Producer Jean Scofield of McGarry Bowen came to the Audible Playground for just that reason. In search of Sound Design and Music Sweetening, Scofield worked closely with AP’s Principal Casey Chester to help achieve that goal. “I’m always up for the challenge and they needed a series of Sound Design and Music Editing ideas with a quick turn around” say’s Chester. “The nature of this spot is very simple and in order for the humor to come out, I had to be subtle to enhance the scene. We had tried plenty of “well known football” pieces of music for the back end, but the client really liked this one simple piece. The only issue was they wanted it to sound bigger. So, I added a fuller arrangement to achieve that request.” This spot aired Thanksgiving Day, and you can catch it during most football games.
This turned out to be a nice clean gig. Audible Playground was called upon by Tracy Locke to create custom music and sound for Wisk’s New Stain Spectrum Technology campaign. It started with a 15 second Teaser for the launch and turned into three 30 Second spots. Casey Chester explains “This client has been a lot of fun to work for, they were looking for something really dramatic and movie trailer-ish to stand out amongst the type of ads around it. As for the Sound Design, they wanted something not expected, and used words like “Contemporary Organic”. This was great because I was forced to search and foley my own sounds to fulfill their vision.” The sounds of shuffling cards and tapping a stick against his house, were just some of the sounds being used. Now that’s pretty organic! Chester adds, “It also was a pleasure to work with composer Chuck Lovejoy. He’s really fast and I’m happy to have him be part of the team.
